Welcome!

The Bear Creek Hounds, established in 2001 and recognized by the Masters of Foxhounds Association in 2005, is based 45 minutes south of Atlanta, Georgia in beautiful Coweta County. Our territory includes large tracts in Coweta, Meriwether, Fulton and Dooly counties in Georgia and two fixtures in eastern Alabama. Our terrain varies from rolling farmland to vast woodlands and wide open fields. The pack is crossbred hounds and our primary quarry is fox, coyote and an occasional bobcat.

We hunt on Wednesdays and Saturdays from September to mid-March. Our membership is united by a common passion to follow centuries-old traditions, enjoy the privilege of riding across our magnificent territory, and most of all in appreciation for the hounds and quarry that provide amazing sport.

We welcome you to explore our website to learn more about foxhunting.

Our club’s enthusiastic membership has room for everyone. From seasoned foxhunters to those new to the sport and to juniors who are learning the joys of a sport they can pursue for a lifetime, there is opportunity for everyone to enjoy their day in the field.

We offer three fields to suit a variety of riding ability. First flight stays with the huntsman and hounds and jumps any obstacles in their path. Second flight follows closely but navigates around obstacles. Both of these flights require a quick and nimble mount. Third flight watches the action unfold from a bit further back and often has the best “seat” in the field. All well-behaved horses are welcome in third flight.

Guests are welcome to join us. Please contact Roslyn Johnson, the Honorary Secretary, at bearcreeksecretary@gmail.com.
